Ensuring universal access to sustainable and affordable energy has become a shared goal for all governments in partnership with the private sector. This includes the enhancement of international cooperation in order to improve and disseminate renewable energy technologies, and energy efficiency.
The Elcano Royal Institute Programme on Energy and Climate has devoted increasing attention to the energy transition in Spain, and its involvement in broader EU and global plans on climate change. Specific research topics in this area include the Paris Climate Summit and the following Conferences of the Parties (COP), the Spanish Law on Climate Change and Energetic Transition, the European Green Deal, and the green dimension of the COVID-19 response plans.
